Just wondering if anyone had suggestions for a good pesto recipe without nuts?

Nuts are okay for a low carb high fat or ketogenic diet, but we can eat far too many of them if we’re not careful and they can be hard on our systems.

You can keep the nuts out of pesto and still have a really yummy pesto. Or you can sub out the traditional pine nuts with any other nut (for nutritional reasons – ie. you want more thiamin or potassium).

I guess we can’t really call it a ‘pesto’ – but for all intents and purposes, when made without nuts it is still just as flavorful and can be made of the same consistency. If you use a dry parmesan cheese, you’ll get that slight-grain texture that a finely ground nut offers. Or you could sub out half of the olive oil with a walnut or macadamia oil.

Hope this helps. Let us know how your version turns out!
